The 5K/10K training curriculum, developed by our expert coaching staff, is a comprehensive program designed to prepare your body and mind for your favorite races around the Bay.

Designed for runners of all levels, this 8-week program gives you all the tools you need to arrive at the starting line with confidence - whether your goal is to finish the race or break a personal record.

AlaVie's 5K/10K Training Program includes:

  • A kick-off meeting where you'll meet your coach and fellow teammates and receive all of your training materials. Your coach will also give you an overview of the training program, shoe experts will fit you for the proper shoes, and physical therapists will provide tips on injury prevention.
  • 8 weekly training sessions led by AlaVie coaches**
  • A detailed schedule of running, speed, and cross-training drills
  • A fitness and nutrition training log to help you track your progress and stay focused on your goals
  • Nutrition guidance designed to support your training and optimize your energy level
  • Unlimited phone and email support from our coaching staff of veteran 5k, 10k, and marathon runners
  • A T-shirt and water bottle

  • A typical week of 5k/10k Fitness Training combines 3-6 mile runs, calisthenics and resistance exercises, and track workouts.

    Designed to help you maximize your race performance and minimize your risk of injury, the 5k/10k Training Program builds in gradual increases in workout intensity - and gives your body a chance to recover before race day.

    ** Weekly training sessions will be held on Wednesday nights from 6:00 p.m. to 7:00 p.m.

    *** Summer Session training is for the following races: Los Gatos Half Marathon/10K Jungle Run (July 13th), Marina Green 5K (July 20th), Wharf to Wharf (July 27th) - Race Sells out quickly so register now!, Windmill Run 10K (July 27th)

    **** Fall Session training is for the following races: Golden Gate Park Run (October 12th), Ball Park 5K (October 19th), Silicon Valley Marathon (October 26th), Sawyer Camp 5K (November 2nd), Embarcadero 10K (November 9th)
