“I love challenging people and seeing them do more than they thought possible. People always cut themselves short of what they are capable of. I love opening their eyes to all that they can accomplish.”
AlaVie Boot Camp Coach Ari Goodman started playing sports as a small child and never lost her love for being active.
“My dad was a marathon runner, and I grew up with him always running, and running a bit myself. My mom was a yoga teacher and body awareness was always a part of the daily discussion.”
Inspired by her parents, Ari played three sports in high school and in college found herself“overwhelmed with all the new things going around. I was living in a place that has incredible biking and bought my first road bike and mountain bike. From that moment on, I would never be the same. I became incredibly involved with the cycling community. I was an avid cyclist until one of my friends enrolled me in the Nike Women's Half Marathon. I loved it!”
When a friend signed her up for her first sprint triathlon with only two weeks to train, she panicked. Despite not being a swimmer, she placed third in her age group and has been “hooked ever since.””So hooked that last summer she competed in her first Full Iron distance triathlon and was the youngest female to finish.
Ari decided to embrace fitness as a career “because I want to help people live better, stronger and healthier lives. Fitness empowers us to accomplish our goals and be the best we can. It's an alternative to pharmaceutical addictions and medical disorders, and we can do it ourselves and be the master of our own destinies.”
“I don't believe in rigid rules of what we can and can't do,” Ari continues, “I think it's really important for us as individuals to be in touch with ourselves....No one is perfect, but if we try our best to stay in tune with our bodies, than we can achieve success.”
“Push yourself harder than you planned when you feel strong. Take it easy when you’re tired because you don't want to injure yourself. Don't eat things that make you feel less energized. All we need is a little common sense and the ability to listen to what our bodies are telling us and we’ll be just fine.”
