I can see and feel the difference in both my body and my personal spirit. I am looking forward to continuing on with my training to discover what other accomplishments I am capable of achieving.

Carolyn Yeh - San Mateo Assistant Coach

  • NASM Certified Trainer - CPR Certified

Carolyn Yeh has always been active. Besides "looking like a drowning tuna fish while swimming for butterfly stroke events for my swim club, I attempted to play soccer in third grade but realized that I couldn't kick the ball straight."

She went on to compete in high school basketball, volleyball, and track and field, practicing Muay Thai kickboxing, boxing, and sanshou (Chinese martial arts) along the way.

"I love sports," she says, "I love working out. I love training others in sports and physical fitness. What better career can I pursue? I also discovered the fact that I am not a keen fan of engineering."

Her most demanding physical challenge to date? Competing in Cung Le's Level 1 Cardio Test.

"I remember having to finish 100 push ups in 2 minutes and was required to count out loud what [number] we were on. I wasn't able to count in chronological order. By the end of it, my muscles were shaking uncontrollably. How did I deal with the difficulty? I think my brain just stopped working, usually that helps me to get through a tough workout. But really, I trained really hard for that test - 2-3 hours a day, ran for 30 minutes in the morning, and I ate really healthy."

For Carolyn, health and fitness is a way of life, not just a short-lived fad. She's passionate about sharing that philosophy with her trainees and "getting people to love the physical activity that they're in indulging while training with me."

As a coach, she most enjoys "building people's mental and physical strength while exploiting their potential, so they can acknowledge their unknown capabilities."
