Fitness has always been a very important part of my life,“ says Alavie Assistant Coach Christine Langi, “And though I spent many years behind a desk, it's always been a dream of mine to pursue a career in the fitness industry.“

Growing up, Christine was a competitive gymnast and cheerleader, which instilled a lifelong sense of discipline: “I make it a point to stay active and workout on a regular basis. In 2005, I decided to turn my love for fitness into a career and became a certified personal trainer and also started teaching group exercise classes.“

Though she loves being able to share her love for fitness with others and help clients reach their goals, becoming a new mom posed a challenge to Christine's fitness career. While in labor with her son in May of 2010, she suffered nerve damage that left her right foot and calf partially numb.

“My doctor couldn't do much for me, and I basically had to wait and hope that I would regain full feeling,“ Christine says, “I worked through it and didn't let it slow me down. Thankfully, when my son was about 6 weeks old, I regained complete feeling in my right foot and calf!“

As far as her fitness philosophy is concerned, Christine believes in “portion control and keeping it moving.“

“I don't deprive myself of cravings I might have,“ she says, “So I do my best to exercise portion control. Also, I try to stay active all the time—things like parking far away from my destination, taking the stairs instead of the elevator and squeezing in workouts whenever and wherever I can.“
